Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you plan your trip to Georgia.

Booking your tour

  • When do I pay?

Not when you send the request. We confirm availability first, usually within 24 hours. Once we confirm your dates, you pay 30% by card through Wise to secure your booking, and the other 70% in cash when we meet you on the day.
  • What does "private tour" mean?

Only your group in the vehicle, with your own driver-guide: never shared with strangers or combined with another booking.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Every tour can be cancelled free of charge, with a full refund, up to 70 days before departure. Your 30% payment goes back through Wise within 14 days of the cancellation. Your bank may take a few more days to show it. If you cancel later than that, there is no refund, but you can move your tour to another date once, free of charge (subject to availability).

    Full cancellation policy

  • What happens if you cancel my tour?

If we have to cancel a tour (for example a closed road, severe weather or your guide falling ill), we first offer you another date or route at no extra cost. If none of them suits you, you get a full refund of everything you paid, within 14 days.

  • Can I customize the tour?

Yes, and it is free. Change the length, adapt the program, swap an activity (horse riding instead of the quad, say), change meals or stops: tell us what you want, and we send back the new route and its price before you pay anything.

  • Can solo travellers book?

Our private tours run for groups of 2 to 4 guests, so there is no 1-guest price. The Georgian wine tasting in Tbilisi is the exception: you can book it on your own.
  • Do you offer discounted pricing for children?

Children aged 0–3 travel free. Children aged 4–11 are charged 50% of the adult price. Guests aged 12 and over are charged the full adult price. Wine tastings and wine boxes are for adults aged 18 and over only.
  • Do you pick up from Tbilisi airport?

Yes. Tbilisi airport pickup is available on our tours, or we collect you from any hotel or address in Tbilisi. You choose the pickup point when you request the trip.

Planning and travel in Georgia

  • Is Georgia safe for tourists?

Yes. Crime against visitors is low, and Tbilisi is easy to walk around in the evening. In the mountains the real risks are weather and roads, which is why every trip has a local driver-guide, a 4x4 where the road needs one, and a first-aid kit in the car. None of our routes go near the occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
  • Do I need a 4x4?

Not to drive one yourself: on our tours the 4x4 comes with a local driver. The main highways are paved, but the roads to Truso and Juta in Kazbegi, Shatili in Khevsureti, Ushguli in Svaneti, Upper Racha and the Goderdzi highlands are gravel or dirt, with sections an ordinary car should not attempt.

  • How hard are the tours?

Every tour page has a difficulty rating, Easy, Moderate or Challenging, graded by the hardest day, with the longest hike, the driving time and the highest point written out. Every walk can be shortened or skipped, and the guide sets the pace to the slowest person in the group.

  • What should I bring?

Each tour page has its own list. For the mountains: shoes with grip, a warm layer and a rain jacket even in July, sunglasses and sun cream, a small backpack and a water bottle. Carry some cash in lari for village cafés and guesthouses, where cards often do not work.
  • What happens if the weather changes?

Mountain weather changes fast, and we never push on when a road or trail is unsafe. Your guide changes the order of the days or swaps in a safe alternative nearby: the plan bends, the value of the trip stays the same. Each tour page shows its best months, so you know the season before you book.

    Terms & conditions

  • How many days do I need to see Georgia properly?

Five to seven days covers Tbilisi, the wine country and one mountain region such as Kazbegi. For Svaneti, the Black Sea coast or a second mountain region, plan 10–14 days: the drives to the remote valleys are long.

  • Do I need a visa to travel to Georgia?

Citizens of most countries can enter Georgia visa-free for up to one year. Check the rule for your own passport before you fly, and we are happy to point you to the official requirements.
  • Can I use credit cards or should I carry cash?

Cards work in cities, hotels and larger restaurants. In mountain villages and small markets cash is king, so carry some Georgian lari for days off the main routes.
  • Can you plan a trip to a region where no tour is listed?

Yes. Planning a new trip from scratch costs €50, paid before we start. You get two route options, hotels, restaurants and activities chosen for you, transport and travel times worked out, and three rounds of changes.

  • Are your guides qualified and experienced?

Yes. Every tour is led by a licensed Georgian guide who knows the region firsthand: the roads, the weather and the families we visit along the way.

    Who we are

  • What languages do your guides speak?

English and Georgian. If you need another language, ask in advance and we will try to arrange it.
